Citizens Police Academy

Overview


The Citizens Police Academy Program began in 1993 and is organized by the Operations Support Division. There is normally one CPA session per year.

Classes


Class members meet on Monday nights from 7 pm to 9 pm over a 10-week period and cover all aspects of police operations. Classes consist of lectures, demonstrations, tours, hands-on participation, and riding along with an officer. Classes are free of charge.

The Greenville Citizens Police Academy currently has 566 graduates from 36 classes.  In 2018, the Alumni volunteered over 1000 hours of their time to the Police Department.

Application Process


Citizens Police Academy Application
  • CPA is open to anyone who lives or works in the City of Greenville and is at least 21 years of age.
  • CPA Applications are available at the Police and Courts Building, located at 3000 Lee St. and the Municipal Building, located at 2821 Washington St.
  • Now accepting applications
  • Application deadline: April 29, 2019
  • Classes will begin: May 6, 2019
  • Last day of class: July 8, 2019
  • Banquet - Friday: (Tentative) July 12, 2019
