Citizens Police Academy


The Citizens Police Academy Program began in 1993 and is organized by the Operations Support Division. There is normally one CPA session per year.


Class members meet one night a week from 7 pm to 9 pm over a 10-week period and cover all aspects of police operations. Classes consist of lectures, demonstrations, tours, hands-on participation, and riding along with an officer. Classes are free of charge.

The Greenville Citizens Police Academy currently has 581 graduates from 37 classes.  In 2018, the Alumni volunteered over 1000 hours of their time to the Police Department.

  • CPA is open to anyone who lives or works in the City of Greenville and is at least 21 years of age.
