In 1996, the Greenville Police Department began its award winning Summer of Safety Program. The program has grown to include the following activities and events for children and families in the community. All activities are FREE!

9 am to Noon
Fishing Friday is a great opportunity for hundreds of children to meet local public servants and to enjoy a morning of fishing, food, and fun. Police Officers, Firefighters, Paramedics, and Elected Officials will be on hand to fish with local children. Police vehicles, ambulances, fire trucks, and a helicopter will also be on display.
The Greenville Police Department will provide fishing equipment and a hot dog lunch.

Greenville Middle School Auditorium
Kids will get to watch a current movie and cartoons in the Middle School Auditorium and are treated with popcorn and a drink.
These programs are free and sponsored by the Greenville Police Department with the support of Greenville Fire-Rescue Department, W. Walworth Harrison Public Library, Greenville Parks and Recreation Department, Greenville Citizens Police Academy Alumni Association, American Medical Response, Air Evac Lifeteam, Hunt County Crime Stoppers, GISD and numerous other sponsors.
