Outdoor burning is NOT allowed within the city limits. Cooking in appliances designed for such (i.e. outdoor grills and barbecue pits) is allowed, but safety precautions are urged. The only burn permits allowed to be issued by the Texas Air Control Board must come through the Fire Marshal's Office.
Only tree and brush trimmings are allowed to be burned and the material and area must be inspected by the Fire Marshal or his representative prior to issuance of a permit. Any outdoor burning without the proper permit may result in a citation being issued and the fire extinguished.
IF THERE IS A BURN BAN IN EFFECT, THERE WILL BE NO BURN PERMITS ISSUED.
The cost of a residential burn permit is $20.00 and a commercial burn permit is $200.00. The fee must be paid when the application is submitted and it is NON-REFUNDABLE.
You may contact the Fire Marshal by calling (903) 457-2945.
