Background
State law allows for Home Rule Charters to be amended every two years to determine if amendments are needed due to state legislation or organizational changes. The City of Greenville Charter was last reviewed by a committee and amended by voters in May 2005.

The Greenville City Council appointed members to the Citizens Charter Review Committee on September 22, 2009.
