Crime Prevention & Community Relations

The Crime Prevention / Community Relations Officer is charged with providing the citizens of Greenville with proactive programs and steps that assist the citizens in eliminating or reducing their exposure to crime. The Officer actively participates in community events and activities to educate the public on a variety of safety, security, and law enforcement topics. The goal is to maintain strong police-community relations through information and educational programs geared to all ages in an effort to reduce crime and enhance the quality of life in the City of Greenville. Additionally, the Officer works to strengthen public trust through education and partnerships. As partners, the Police Department and the community can make a difference in the amount of crime that takes place.

The Crime Prevention / Community Relations Officer partners with citizens and businesses, government, and civic organizations, as well as schools and education-based programs. The partnerships created are an invaluable asset to the police department, as it builds relationships with the community.

The Officer works closely with our Citizens on Patrol and Volunteers in Policing to provide Crime Prevention programs available to the community.  The Officer regularly plans and facilitates events throughout the community including National Night Out, Drug Take-Back Program, Citizens Police Academy, Explorers, Kids Camp, Summer of Safety, Teen Police Academy, Advanced Teen Police Academy, Hunters Education, CPTED / Safety and Security Audits, and other events.
