GREENVILLE: Greenville Fire-Rescue Department is excited to provide another free tool to help keep our residents safe in their homes! We have joined up with the Ring Neighbors app in our efforts to connect with residents and improve the safety of our communities. Neighbors Public Safety Service (NPSS) allows local public safety agencies to join and use Neighbors, a free app by Ring designed to help community members connect and stay informed about local public safety incidents – whether they own a Ring device or not.

Local police and fire departments across the country can use Neighbors to share important, hyper-local crime and safety information with their residents, view and respond to publicly posted content on the app, and request assistance from residents to help make their neighborhoods safer. Ring is proud to provide Neighbors and NPSS as a way to support community-driven conversations between residents and the local public safety agencies who serve them.

Neighbors allows you, the user, to share photos, videos and information related to local crime and safety incidents so fellow residents can stay informed. Neighbors does not display your address when you post information. Neighbors allows you to select your neighborhood area so you can send and receive alerts most relevant to you while keeping exact locations obscured. Public safety agencies do not have access to user cameras, live streams or personal information when using NPSS.

Greenville Fire Department can view what residents have posted publicly to Neighbors and can also create posts to inform their community about local crime and safety issues. Residents do not need a Ring device to join Neighbors. Anyone with a smartphone can download the free Neighbors App to receive updates and have the option to post photos or videos from any device.
