[ARCHIVED] PRESS RELEASE: SUPPORT GREENVILLE BY VOLUNTEERING TO SERVE

PRESS RELEASE: SUPPORT GREENVILLE BY VOLUNTEERING TO SERVE

City Seeks New Members for Local Boards and Commissions

GREENVILLE – The City of Greenville is looking for citizens to apply to serve on City Boards and Commissions due to resignations, or due to the end of term limit for current members.

Serving on a City Board or Commission is an excellent way to get involved with local government and learn the inner workings of the City. Board members are appointed by the City Council as terms expire or vacancies arise.

Appointees should be residents of the City of Greenville unless the requirement is waived by the City Council. Board members must be registered voters and should not be party to litigation against the City. Applicants should also be current on all taxes and utilities.

Most boards and commissions meet monthly on a pre-determined date while some will meet only on an “as needed” basis. The City currently has vacancies on the following boards for appointment as of January 1, 2021: Animal Control Board, Library Advisory Board, Parks and Recreation Advisory Board, Planning and Zoning Commission, TIRZ, Tourism and Convention Advisory Board.

Please submit applications by November 13, 2020. Applications are retained for a period of one year. Applications and information are available online at www.ci.greenville.tx.us or from the City Secretary’s Office. 903-457-3130 or 2821 Washington Street.
