When is a Certificate of Occupancy required?: A Certificate of Occupancy is required when there is a change in the property ownership, business ownership, business name change, occupancy of a lease space, and/or if there is a change in the GEUS utilities billing customer account for an existing structure. 3. Who do I contact for zoning or building questions for property located outside the City of Greenville limits?

The City of Greenville does not have zoning or inspection authority outside of the City limits. Please contact the Hunt County Commissioner's office at (903) 408-4100.

The City of Greenville does have land subdivision authority. If you are developing and subdividing your property and it is within the City of Greenville or its extraterritorial jurisdiction, contact the Community Development Department for platting and subdivision requirements.

In addition, the City of Greenville has permitting and inspection requirements for irrigation systems within the City and its ETJ. For more information, please call (903) 457-3160.

4. Who do I contact for aerobic / septic system questions and requests for their inspections?: Private, on-site sewer systems such as aerobic or septic systems fall under the jurisdiction of Hunt County. Contact Hunt County Health Department at (903) 408-4140.

5. How can I make a comment on an establishment with an off-premises alcoholic beverage license?: You can go to the TABC website to complete a Comment/Complaint Form http://tabc.texas.gov/enforcement/complain_about_a_location.aspat

6. Is a permit necessary to hold a garage or yard sale?: No. A permit is not required for a garage or yard sale in Greenville. However, city ordinance limits the number of sales that can be held to three per year and each sale can last no longer than three days.
