John Wright joined the City of Greenville July 1, 2014.

John Wright is a 1982 Civil Engineering graduate of the University of Texas at Arlington.  He worked for the consultant Freese and Nichols, Inc., in Fort Worth, for 8 years in General Civil Design and in Project Management.   In 1991 he moved his family to Greenville.  He worked for the Texas Department of Transportation for 23 years in the Greenville Area office of TxDOT, before joining the City.

Mr. Wright says the public works have been in his blood since childhood.  Mr. Wright’s late father was a consulting engineer in various foreign countries and US states, in the field of water and waste treatment.  Mr. Wright remembers his father taking the family on side-trips to see the trickling filters and clarifiers at treatment plants his dad had designed, as they traveled cross country.  His father moved the family to Beirut, Lebanon for one year when Mr. Wright was in first grade, which was a tremendous education in geography, language and culture.

In working for TxDOT locally, over the years, Mr. Wright has had dealing with the Greenville Public Works Department, and has been favorably impressed.  Mr. Wright says that he is excited about working for the City of Greenville.  He enjoyed working for TxDOT, taking care of State highways and bridges of several counties in the Paris district.  Now, he is eager to help maintain and improve streets, traffic, drainage and the water utilities here in his own home town.
